“Family is not an important thing, it’s everything.” – Michael J. Fox

Family Therapy

One of the core beliefs in Self-Management therapy is that to enact change in an individual, you must enact change in the environment. We involve the family in all of the work we do, whether it starts as individual, group, or educational assessment. After all, a therapist only sees a client for an hour or so each week; parents, siblings, and spouses get the other 167 hours.

Family therapy allows the family to join together in a supportive environment and learn techniques to help foster the individual client’s growth. Many issues that lead an individual to seek counseling can have adverse effects on family members as well. Family therapy sessions provide a space for families to process their reactions and learn skills for healthy resolution.
