Herman B. Adler, MA, of Houston, is a practicing licensed psychological associate with independent practice. Mr. Adler is an associate member of the American Psychological Association and a member of the Texas Association of Psychological Associates. He received a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Texas A&M University and a Master of Arts in clinical psychology from the University of Houston-Clear Lake.
Mr. Adler has over 15 years of experience in the mental health field providing psychological testing and psychotherapy. He has extensive experience in ADHD evaluations, cognitive testing, and personality testing to clarify and/or rule out diagnoses in order to inform personal treatment plans to help clients reach their goals, improve their mental health, as well as their overall quality of life.
Mr. Adler’s approach to therapy is cognitive-based, meaning, he systematically and gently challenges clients to examine any automatic negative thoughts (self-defeating or self-critical beliefs) that may be holding them back from achieving their goals and helps them to reframe these thoughts to be more realistic and positive. Clients who struggle with social skills, self-esteem, self-compassion, self-worth, self-confidence, and self-identity can especially benefit from this approach.
In addition, Mr. Adler is also a dedicated public servant and member of Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists where he is involved in regulating the field of psychology and ensuring the provision of best-in-class psychological services to people of Texas.

Board Certified Behavior Analyst
Amy K. Rodriquez, M.A. is a board certified behavior analyst (BCBA) with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board, and certified Texas educator with the Texas Education Agency. Amy acquired a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University in College Station, and a master’s degree in psychology from the University of Houston, in Clear Lake. Amy is a member of the Association of Applied Behavior Analysis International (ABAI), Psi Chi Honor Society and the University of Houston, Clear Lake Alumni Association. Amy taught High School Spanish in HISD and Spring Branch ISD for a total of 10 years, before achieving board certification in applied behavior analysis. Since 1998 Amy has served students with learning differences. While teaching Amy employed differentiated instruction strategies to accommodate the various learning styles of her students. It was there that Amy developed a profound respect for students diagnosed with cognitive and developmental deficits. Today Amy works with children, adolescents, and adults diagnosed with autism, intellectual and developmental disabilities, and behavioral disorders. Amy conducts functional behavior assessments to determine probable functions of problem behavior. Amy is an expert in the development and implementation of treatment plans used to decrease the display of problem behaviors. Amy Also conducts the Verbal Behavior Milestones Assessment and Placement Program (VB-MAPP) to determine a child’s level of functioning, and to track the development of emerging skills. Amy designs learning programs for children who are acquiring language skills, social skills, pre-academic skills, adaptive skills (self-care), and play skills. Amy is at her best performing on-site therapies, in the natural setting. Amy performs aba therapies in the home, school, clinic and vocational settings. Treating children with autism is near and dear to Amy’s heart. Amy’s only son was diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder in 2004. Through personal experience Amy recognizes that even children with autism have a tremendous potential to learn. Amy is hopeful and confident that every child can benefit from applied behavior analysis and the therapies that she delivers.

AMBER E. PASTUSEK, M.D. |

Amber Pastusek, M.D. is a native Texan born and raised in Lubbock, Texas. She attended Texas Tech University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, graduating Magna Cum Laude and in the University Honors Program. She went on to complete her medical school education at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. She then attended the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas for her psychiatry residency and child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship. During her residency training, she was very involved in the recruitment of residents to the program as well as educating medical students and fellow residents. In addition, she served as the assistant chief resident and received the Robert B. White Resident Excellency Award. Dr. Pastusek is trained as a child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist and is Board Certified. Her interests include evaluating Mood disorders, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Learning Disorders, and Autism Spectrum Disorders. She takes a special interest in behavioral interventions and family therapy as an integral part of treatment. She has received training in both the psychopharmacologic treatment of psychiatric illness as well as different psychotherapeutic modalities, giving her an informed and balanced view toward the treatment of emotional illness. Currently in addition to her position at the Tarnow Center, Dr. Pastusek is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) and serves on the Systems of Care Committee to work on improving practice parameters and integrating the various systems of care in order to provide the best treatment possible for patients. Dr Pastusek has a wealth of experience, having worked inpatient, MHMRA, psychiatric emergencies rooms, research, and developmental disability clinics.

Armando Tovar, M.A., LPC received his Bachelor of Science in Mental Health and Human Services in 2013 and a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Franciscan University of Steubenville, Ohio in 2015. Armando is a Ph.D. Candidate and is researching Internet Gaming Disorder. He honorably served in the Marine Corps. Armando’s approach to therapy considers the biopsychosocial factors of the individual while investigating potential influences from within the family system. He works with clients of all developmental stages, from childhood to geriatric. Armando’s research investigates the influence of technology, such as internet gaming, screen addiction, etc. and how it may affect relationships. He utilizes various theories and techniques to help clients with anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, social skills, and various traumas. Armando has extensive experience working with veterans. He utilizes Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) to help with traumas. His view on a holistic approach emphasizes the importance of remaining current with technological advances. From understanding what social media platforms are trending to what are the cutting-edge advancements in gaming. Armando is National Board-Certified Counselor and is affiliated with the American Counseling Association, American Counselor Educator and Supervision, Chi Sigma Iota, the International Society of Accelerated Resolution Therapy, and the Texas Counselors Association.
