SERVICES/PROGRAMSYoung Adults Parents are integral to both developing and carrying out the treatment plan The transitional moment when adolescence gives way to adulthood offers particular challenges. The young adults who seek treatment at the Tarnow Center for Self-Management [sm] oftenhave the desire to manage their lives more efficiently, but lack the skills to do so. They have difficulties achieving their potential at work, at school, in relationships and in the day-to-day responsibilities of adulthood. Thorough diagnostic evaluations are performed on all young adults entering the practice. This evaluation includes an assessment of self-management skills. Out of the evaluation, we will develop a treatment plan with specific goals and objectives targeted to that young persons needs. With the patient's and family's permission, we will communicate with appropriate officials at the student's school so that accommodations can be made to support the treatment and help it reach its objectives. Parents are integral to both developing and carrying out the treatment plan. They become part of the treatment team and play an active role in their young adult's progress towards effective self-management. |
