Launching Programs

High School Launching Prep Group

For: Adolescents in high school (10th – 12th grades), along with parents

Time: One hour each week: Wednesdays 6:00 - 7:00pm

Parents: Parents meet one hour three times, January 20, February 10, March 10

Students: January 27 – March 3, except February 10 

Student Topics:

  • Self-awareness
  • Strengths and weaknesses
  • Motivation
  • Goals
  • Active processing
  • Skills and accomplishments

Parent Topics:

  • Defining launching goals
  • In place vs. under construction
  • Risk factors
  • Life skills development 

Cost:  $640 (eight sessions)

(Participants who are new to the practicerequire a one-hour evaluation by Dr. Havasy. The cost of this evaluation is $205). 

College Launching Program

For: Incoming college freshman who have already faced significant struggles

Topics are:

  • Self-awareness
  • Strengths & weaknesses
  • Stress management
  • Time management
  • Goals/motivations
  • Expectations
  • Temptations
  • Keys to success

Parent topics are:

  • Risk factors
  • Expectations
  • Plan B

Time: One hour each week; Thursdays 6:15-7:15 PM; June 11-July 9

Parents meet one hour three time, Thursdays 5-6 PM; June 11, June 25 & July 9

SAT/ACT Tutoring Program

This summer the Tarnow Center is offering a program that does not compare to your standard SAT/ACT prep courses. Our program is different because we combine brain fitness exercises to increase underlying skills so that the SAT/ACT Preparation is more effective and the results are more enduring.

With this program you will:

  • Develop test taking strategies
  • Test Practice
  • Increase reading speed, working memory and reading comprehension
  • Build confidence and reduce stress by being well prepared
