An integrated biopsychosocial approach provided by a mental health professional who has training and experience in a variety of psychological issues, but specifically in ADHD and the core impairments in self-management faced by the ADHD adult.

Social and interpersonal self-management skills develop in the con text of early attachment relationships: they are influenced by both biological factors and family/environmental factors. Throughout child hood, parents, teachers, and other adults provide support (in varying degrees at each developmental stage) to encourage the child's com petence. Parents can encourage self-management through the ap plication of specific strategies and can gain support and validation from other parents by learning in a group environment.

    • Perform a good assessment
    • Understand deficits in self-management
    • Compensate for deficits with self-management skills
    • Teach and model self-management

Description:
6-hour group series for parents of children with self-management dif ficulties. You will learn how to enhance your parenting ap proaches. You will have the opportunity to practice strategies with the goal of increasing their child's self-management skills. Builds on the concepts from Dr. Tarnow's introductory lecture (not a prerequisite).
